Short-Term Rehabilitation

Short-term rehabilitative care is a great opportunity to receive that additional care through nursing care or physical, occupational and speech therapies following illnesses or injuries. Our qualified staff members and therapists collaborate to develop an individualized plan of care to address specific needs, goals and expected outcomes.

The Arbor Oaks Team focuses on knowing the “individual”. This philosophy allows us to provide healthcare that is intensely personal, healthcare that takes into consideration the physical, social and spiritual well-being of each and every individual. From admission to discharge, we assist our elders in achieving their highest possible level of independence.

Physical Therapy

Physical therapy, often abbreviated PT, is a healthcare profession primarily concerned with the remediation of impairments and disabilities and the promotion of mobility, functional ability, quality of life and movement potential through examination, evaluation, diagnosis and physical intervention carried out by physical therapists.

Our therapy services are available to short- or long-term elders who have experienced strokes, falls or fractures, knee or hip replacements or other medical conditions that have inhibited their ability to perform normal daily functions.

Our physical therapists use a number of advanced techniques to help our elders improve their quality of life. Physical therapy provides intervention for health-related problems associated with stroke, arthritis, respiratory illness, and other ailments. Arbor Oaks is equipped to identify, correct, or compensate for your specific functional limitation. Our goal is to rehabilitate to the highest possible level of functioning for each individual to maximize his or her quality of life.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy can help elders relearn the daily activities of life including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and homemaking. Our therapists teach our elders how to use the right techniques and equipment to complete these tasks. We also address cognitive, musculoskeletal and mobility concerns.

Speech Therapy

Speech-language pathologists focus on improving deficits in speech and swallowing. Our therapists are professionally trained in helping elders recover from strokes or other injuries that affect speech and swallowing. Our speech-language pathologists work one-on-one with elders to help them regain functional communication with a variety of methods. Arbor Oaks uses an interdisciplinary approach to maximize communication through verbal, visual, and/or gestural means.

Through the coordination of care with physical and occupational therapies, a team approach to rehabilitation allows everyone to focus on the elder as a whole and maximize the opportunities for a faster recovery.
